Upcoming Microsoft Patches

Microsoft announced that they will release updates for Windows and Internet Explorer on April 8. There will be a total of eight updates and five of them have a rating of �critical.�

These updates apply to all Windows operating systems from Windows 2000 up to Windows Vista. They also apply to Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008.

There will be a Webcast that they will set up on April 9 which will address user questions about these updates ...

Free disk defragger

Over time the files on your hard drive get split up into many smaller pieces. This slows down the speed of access to your files.

The free defrag program http://www.defraggler.com/download will help " put the files back together" and so speed up your system.

The program gives you a number of options including just to defrag the files which are most badly affected making the whole procedure much faster that a full disk defrag using the inbuilt XP or Vista programs.

Problem with word document

I have a problem with word document.

When i go back to edit a section the letters seems to be over written rather than replaced.

It used to work fine but I am wondering if I have down loaded a virus stopping me doing this.

Data back up

I was in PC world the other day and picked up a Cd offering 1GB of free on line data back up.

This got me looking at other on line back up facilities.

In the end i went for Mozyhome

This is free , secure and give 2 GB of back up , it will even search you hard drive and suggest which files need backing up.

The restore set can be accessed from any pc useful if you need that file on your home pc from another ...

Trojan download

My daughter was recently sent a link which she clicked on.

Her computer now seems to be infected with a trojan and internet explorer seems to go mad when she connected. Can you help?

Vista service pack available for download

Microsoft have officially released Windows Vista SP1, the first service pack for Vista that should offer some improvements to the performance and stability of your system.

You can either get the patch as it is released over Windows Update (strongly recommended), but the more impatient can download a larger update file directly from Microsoft (here).
